#1 Helping with Translations

If you can speak more than 2 languages, consider!

If you can speak more than 2 languages, yet are in a situation where you are not capable of having direct interactions with them, consider helping with translations! Translating the posts into another language greatly widens the audience and allows the posts to spread, gaining more donations. If you want to help, the best way is to use social media. Find the local shelters near you and simply reach out to them through DM. Or some of them already have a notice saying that they are seeking the SNS volunteers or the digital management team.

#2 Making Promotional Videos

Widely known besides direct volunteering and donations

Making promotional videos is one of the most widely known ways of helping the shelters. Some of the shelters are tech-challenged and struggle with creating videos that attract the audience. If you take the video editing or design classes, then you are probably familiar with the editing platforms such as Capcut.
With the pictures/videos provided by the shelters, creating approximately 30 seconds video with subtitles encouraging adoptions and donations would help spread awareness and also help the shelters.

#3 Liking, commenting, and reposting

Small acts that could still help the shelters

Although small actions are often underrated, they are helpful in ways that they spread more awareness through SNS, letting more people be aware of the problems and support them, whether it is through donations or other forms of volunteering.

Some people even make a whole Instagram account solely for the purpose of supporting one specific organization, similar to a fan page for celebrities, which helps a lot in increasing their visibility and amplifying their message to a wider audience.

#4 Designing the products

Huge actions with a lot of effort, yet, possible to try.

When designing the products for the shelters, it could include items such as calendars. A lot of shelters create their calendars with the photos of the shelter animals to promote them while raising funds. Although this may require some proficiency, if you are a student between the ages 15-18 years old who is planning to major in a related field, these are great ways for you to help. Another one is to build a website for the shelters which widens the ways audiences can learn about and stay informed about the shelters.

#5 Organizing a school club fundraiser

Funding for the shelters individually might be challenging but being involved in a school club makes it easier.

Although individual donations and funding may be restricted for the students due to their financial limitations, being involved in a school club fundraiser makes it easier for them to directly raise funds within the school community. Even making small products such as key chains and Christmas ornaments can be sold at the schoolwide events and donated to the shelters, making impactful changes.

Donate!

However, donations are always welcome!

Donations help the shelters to continue to thrive with enough support and provide higher-quality care for each one of them.

If you would like to help them directly, please donate to Shiloh's Sanctuary, the partnered organization where I am consistently volunteering as an online translator and provided me with insights into their rescue experiences.
